The power of interpretation

During the trial today 1/8/10, the defendant Mae Tuck was asked a question of whether or not Winnie Foster was scared when you "took" her? Mae's response was "no". How do you interpret the meaning of that word "took"? Do you believe that Winnie was taken against her own free will or do you believe that she went willingly? Be sure to include support and evidence from the trial to support your answer.

  1. I think Winnie went willingly, because if she don't want to go with the Tucks, she could scream for help even she is shy, because if that happen to a normal shy or not shy person, no matter what, a person will protect them self first and scream for help.

  2. Winnie went willingly because she herself admitted in court that she went willingly. Mae Tuck also said that she wasn't scared. Winnie said she she were their friends so that means Winnie went willingly.

  4. I think Winnie went willing because when she was interviewed Winnie said that she went willing. She also had a chance to fall down when they "took" her. When she saw the stranger she could've screamed for help.It doesn't matter if Winnie is shy. When someone is being "kidnapped" I think they would scream.

  5. I think that Winnie went willingly because she had a chance to scream and even if the person was shy they usually would scream.

  6. I think that winnie went willingly and because her family was not treating her the way she wanted to be treated. She had went and then sawjesse tuck drinking from the spring and the they took her and took her to Mae's house. The word took means she took her or meaning kidnapped her. So i think she went willingly.

  8. I think that Winnie Foster went willingly, because her family didn't listen to her. And when the word mean took it's like kidnapping, but also there was a reason,Mae Tuck didn't want her to water from the spring.

  11. I think Winnie went willingly because just like what Juror #13 said even a shy person would be able to scream and yell for help when he or she needed to.

  12. I think Winnie went Willingly because she could have scream out help to the stanger but she didn't. I also agree with Juror#3 because a shy person like winnie could be able to scream for help but she went willingly

  15. I think that Winnie went willingly, because she admited herself that she could have called out for help when the stranger saw her, or she could have just have fallen down from the horse.
